Mobile phones

With usage of mobile phone increasing in our day to day life, it not only provides mobility but also with Digital Britain initiative, now one can do banking, check emails, shopping etc. Hence a mobile is important as per your usage and requirements.

There are thousands of makes and model of mobile phones however one needs to be clear as what basic features one needs in order to use a mobile phone.

Mobile Operating system

You will find mobile in 4 standard operating systems. iOS, Android, Windows & Blackberry . iOS is Apple propreitary operating system whereas Android is a google owned - Free to Use* Operating system which you can use on your mobile, tablet, laptop etc. The 2 most popular ones are iOS & Android.

All Operating systems have their own features and functionalities. One need to make sure to buy mobile phone with operating system needed.

The pros and cons of Operating system

The right Operating system means a lot for your usage of a mobile phone. If you are a developer and looking for a completely open source then Android comes out to be best as iOS has its own limitations. iOS has security feature inbuilt whereas on Android you need a separate anti-virus for your mobile.

Also make sure to understand the Operating system updates and how often they are released. If you are an office user and use Windows on your laptop, PC, etc. then Windows become preferable choice as it can very well integrate with Office 365, etc.

What you need to think about when choosing a mobile phone?

There are a few things you need to bear in mind before you buy a new mobile phone:

RAM (Random access memory)

There are thousands of different mobile handsets to choose from, with each one often available in a variety of colours and storage sizes. There’s no specific handset that's perfect for everyone. Out of main requirements, RAM needs to be sufficient for kind of apps you use. Remember most of latest Apps and games need minimum 1GB to run.

A mobile phone is an investment for minimum 2years so understand your requirements and buy one which is future proofed.

ROM (Read only memory)

ROM is needed for number of files, pictures, music files, etc you store on your mobile. Bigger ROM means more you can store. Most mobiles now come within Inbuilt ROM of minimum 8GB to 256GB. Most Android phones also support external memory using which you can expand your mobile.

Service Centre

Try to avoid buying a mobile phone which doesn't have a service centre is your area/city. Imagine you buy a mobile in Lucknow and have to travel to Delhi if there is any issues! Although most mobile manufacturers now offer a local service centre but please do check.

Think about what's important to you, be that size, battery life, screen quality, camera quality, operating system or something else.
